Adolescents face tremendous academic and social pressures far too often. Peer pressure, school drop-outs, substance use, unplanned pregnancy, homelessness, and Teen Dating Violence (TDV) are just a handful of issues that I have worked through with my clients.
Grief and loss can change your life forever. Listening to my clients and helping them to understand the stages of grief can aid in minimizing their feelings of devastation. Providing emotional support and working with clients to develop skills to manage their new reality is a significant aspect of my practice.
No one deserves to be abused! Domestic Violence (DV) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is extremely common and affects millions of people. Disrupting the pathways of development, nurturing protective environments, strengthening financial and economic supports, teaching skills to enhance safe and healthy relationships and to identify the warning signs are all goals of my practice.
Focus is strategic. The goal is to obtain an increased awareness of body movements and sensations, breathing, and emotional state in the present moment. Being able to recognize exactly what is happening and how to respond in order to get what is needed is the desired outcome.
Working together with my clients to become more decisive and confident in their decision making skills is key to my practice.
You know what you need and what needs to be done to improve your current situation. Focus is on what you can do, not what you can't. Helping my clients to identify and clarify their goals along with tapping into their inner courage and strengths are key in my practice.
