About My Clients
Does it sometimes feel as if you are stuck on a rollercoaster of emotions with no end in sight? Like one minute you are fine and the next you are either riddled with anxiety and irritability as if something awful may happen if you cannot control everything OR you are completely unmotivated, isolated, sad, and numb. This often happens when we've experienced trauma or a series of repeated stressors in our life! I can help you get off this wild ride and onto something much more enjoyable!
My Background and Approach
I have extensive training in both DBT and EMDR to help individuals gain the coping skills needed to explore the past, take accountability for the present, and learn how to create the future they want. While I LOVE evidenced-based practices, I dislike how dry and boring they can be - so I use creativity, humor, and story-telling to bring these therapies to life. My clients often tell me they appreciate how real and honest I am with them. That is, while I will ALWAYS validate your experience, I will offer insight and perspective that you may not have considered. I will also collaborate with you to help you gain skills that will quickly provide you relief and that are individualized to you, rather than me just telling you to "take some deep breaths". After we grow your resilience zone, we will work on getting *through* the past in a gentle, safe, and collaborate way so that the past is no longer hitching it's wagon to your star.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people are able to heal and create the life they want to live, they just have to find *what works for them*. While therapy is often a key part of this, I believe that there are multiple pathways to healing and I aim to help you find those. For me, finding Brazilian Jui Jitsu and yoga helped improve my life tremendously! Both aided me in finding a community to help support me, how to find comfort in discomfort, and learn how failure can lead to success. I look forward to helping you figure out your pathways to healing, whether it be horseback riding, painting, writing dancing, archery, or gardening - to just name a few.
