I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with an arts background who specializes in women’s issues and older adult issues.
Counselor in Kirkland, WA
Female empowerment has always been a passion of mine even before I worked in the field of mental health. As an artist and as a humanitarian aid worker abroad, I have worked to help women recognize their strengths and their value in order to live more fulfilling lives. I have received some of the most positive feedback as a therapist from women who have come to me struggling with self-esteem issues.
My focus of study in graduate school was object relations psychotherapy. It was the therapeutic theory that first ignited my passion for working as a therapist and its focus is on our style of attachment/patterns in the way we connect with others. I have found that having a strong foundation in this particular therapy has helped me understand every client I meet with a greater level of depth and it continues to inform and guide the way I work with each client.
I have several years of experience in the community mental health setting working specifically with older adults who are struggling with a wide range of issues including chronic physical health issues, cognitive issues, challenges in relationships with caregivers, struggles with isolation, financial difficulties, adjustment to retirement, finding meaning at the end of life, adjusting and accepting terminal illness, and bereavement of other loved ones who have passed.
