I am certified in EMDR, trained in Brainspotting (BSP) and Flash. Trauma (or an adverse life experience) is often the root cause of a lot of issues people face, so I find having the ability to do EMDR, BSP and Flash with clients speeds up treatment so clients can enjoy their life a little sooner than with traditional therapy.
I have found that collaborative couples therapy is the only couples therapy that truly works. Using techniques, such as Gottman, guides the way, but ultimately being able to teach couples to work collaboratively is what gets them the results they want.
I have done CBT longer than any other therapy style. Although I find that sometimes a narrative approach or person center approach can be more helpful with some clients, I have found that clients ultimately use their thinking to guide their feelings. So when I am able to help clients see different angles of issues, they are often able to reach the goals they have set for themselves.
Anxiety gets in the way of a lot of goals that people face. I use evidence based techniques to help clients get their anxiety under control with the hope of eliminating anxiety altogether.
I am from the LGBTQAI+ population and am committed to offering our community the services it deserves! Being in the LGBTQAI+ doesn't define every aspect of who we are, but it certainly can hold us back when we are facing discrimination and family issues because of it. Our goal at Long Beach Therapy is to support our community so that we can ALL thrive and live our truth.
Research is showing how much trauma effects our society at every level. Oftentimes PTSD is missed and people are diagnosed with anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant, and other things that aren't always correct. When we are able to heal the underlying trauma (and/or adverse life experiences), we are often able to break free of mental health issues and be more happy in our lives.
