About My Clients
Adulting is hard! Perhaps it feels like there's just too much on your plate- like navigating your relationships/friendships and work life and it can get quite overwhelming. There may be some anxiety and depression that is hindering you from your full potential and you'd like someone to help you process your thoughts and guide you to a more fulfilling place in life. www.amyfuruyama.com
My Background and Approach
My graduate work internships were in government entities, such as Department of Mental Health in Los Angeles and in child protective services. Through this experience, I have worked with myriad of youth and adults struggling with anxiety, depression and trauma. I also have experience as a therapist in corrections providing counseling for inmates with mental health issues. My approach- I'd first like to have a conversation with you to explore your past then find ways to assist you in the present, the here and now.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I offer a warm, empathic ear to provide a sense of comfort that you are not alone in this and that despite the chaos around us, you will get through this struggle. I believe in the power of therapy, and see it as something sacred. Ultimately, therapy is a relationship and as your therapist, I hope to be that safe person for you to process your life events.
