About My Clients
I strongly believe that finding the right "fit" of client and therapist is really important when embarking on a therapeutic journey. I tend to see clients who are struggling with anxiety, dissociation, self-esteem, family/friend/partner relationships, catastrophic thinking, grief, depression, family of origin wounds & trauma, ADHD, and more.
My Background and Approach
My background is in existential-phenomenological psychology. The most important thing about this framework, to me, is that it guides us in such a way that I am trying to get to you as an individual. We've all heard about anxiety, depression, and trauma- but what I'm most interested in is how your particular struggles effect YOU. How do they manifest for you? How do they feel to you? By asking these questions, I can help guide you towards your inner wisdoms. I believe that we ALL have inner wisdoms, knowings, guidance- it can just take a little time, and sometimes a supportive listener, to help us come into contact with them. That is what my role is as therapist! My role is to help you come back to yourself- to strengthen those wisdoms so that you can connect to yourselves and to others in a more natural and fulfilling way. Some main modalities and theories I like to pull from include mindfulness meditation, radical self-compassion, Internal Family Systems, and Attachment Theory.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are all whole beings, and all have goodness within us. No feelings are bad- they are merely energies that pass through us. It is my job to hold compassion for you- it is my hope that you can learn to do the same for yourself with time Sometimes I might make inquiries or provide insights- they are not always "correct", and I invite you to correct me whenever you feel something doesn't resonate with your experience. You know yourself best.
