Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in Valley Village, CA
Supervised by Erica Siegal LCSW & Gary Pearle LMFT
I'm in the LGBT community, worked with gay rights advocacy groups in Los Angeles, and specialized my clinical education in LGBT studies.
Deep study, transpersonal experiences, and my personal practices 10+ years in the making have opened a door in me that has never closed -- a synthesis of Western with Eastern philosophy -- that shapes who I am today. This backbone of mindfulness, Being-ness, and acceptance are aspects that move me and are cornerstones to my method of support.
I work and train with clinicians specializing in issues related to self-care, balance, boundaries, and personal fulfillment -- needs that often are the first to go once we stat over-spending our energy and resources to support others.
I'm an integral therapist, and I believe because we are a whole organism with many data points and infinite relationship to the world around us, that our healing, improvements, and growth also come from the many strands of life around us. To that end, I bring together psychological approaches, sociological data, and human-centered care to provide a holistic, unique form of service.
I'm a gay-identified male, with boots-on-ground experience working within LGBT social justice non-profits both clinically and personally. These are issues that I am personally, professionally, and politically steeped in, and I've worked with people of all ages and all across the spectra of sexual and gender identities.
As a HSP myself, I am acutely attuned and responsive to people who also seem to have a heightened sense of their internal and external environments. I also know full well the difficulties we face when we are met head-on with traumas resulting from the lifelong challenge of conforming to a desensitized world.
ADHD often brings with it harsh self-criticism and doubt, social withdrawal, and a sense of alienation. I'm familiar with the trap. I'll help you dis-mantle the negative self-talk, understand the mechanisms that find you 'getting in your own way', and (re)build trust in yourself.
Burnout can change our career paths, rock our relationships, or hating a job we once recently enjoyed. It kills productivity at work, and kills intimacy at home. I'll work with you to strengthen the mental and emotional muscles used to prevent burnout so that love doesn't turn to resentment.
