About My Clients

I've had the privilege of working collaboratively with my clients on issues surrounding life transitions, interpersonal relationships, grief & loss, self-esteem, aging parents, personal & professional development, anxiety and depression. Working collaboratively with clients is important to me and for those looking to go deeper outside of session, I provide homework and reading resources.

My Background and Approach

My style is an integrative approach, which means I pull from several therapeutic orientations depending on an individual’s needs and situation. Depth psychology, Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are primary methods with an emphasis on a Jungian approach. I'm certified in massage therapy and am familiar with how the body responds to stress. Therefore, the mind and body connection is another area of focus in my practice, as well as, dreamwork. My background includes working for two large law firms (Fulbright & Jaworski and Vinson & Elkins), two major entertainment companies (Disney and Sony Pictures) and two large technology companies (Yahoo and AT&T). I grew up in Houston and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Speech Communications. After graduation I worked throughout Texas before moving to Los Angeles for 12 years. In 2008 I returned to Austin, began my graduate degree at St. Edward’s University and embarked on a new career as a therapist.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Therapy is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself. I know this from personal experience. It's an opportunity to transform some of life's struggles into deep inner growth. Sometimes we grow naturally and willingly, while other times it’s forced upon us by traumatic events. Either way, it can be uncomfortable if we are resistant to the process. Although growth can be difficult, it can also be very rewarding. The more you know about yourself, your defenses and patterns, the better you are at making decisions and choices that lead to a healthier, more productive life. I believe it’s not just about changing a behavior or pattern, but discovering and gaining insight as to where and how they began, where they helped you previously in life and how they are hindering and holding you back now. The therapeutic process provides you an opportunity to develop new, more effective, skills and methods of coping with life’s peaks and valleys.
