About My Clients
Most people who work with me are women and/or LGBTQIA+ folx, seeking therapy for relationship challenges, family of origin, people pleasing, a biting inner critic, self-worth, anxiety, life transitions, or mood management. We typically focus on strengthening healthy patterns and intentional choices based on your values.
My Background and Approach
My training is in Marriage & Family Therapy, so I often view challenges through the lens of relationships: with emotions, yourself, parts of the self, partners, family, friends, food, work, etc. Some common therapy goals are to strengthen healthy relationship patterns, better understand emotions, identify values and authenticity, make peace with origin stories, and learn to self-parent. I use an eclectic approach tailored to your needs and preferences, often informed by attachment theory, internal family systems, emotionally focused therapy, and evidence-based, trauma-informed methods. Through gentle curiosity and candor, I help unlearn habits that don't serve you well, and build intentional habits based on your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My values continue to evolve, with current emphases on equity, social justice, anti-racism, and queer- and trans-inclusive feminism. In my therapy practice this often pulls us into the nuances of finding balance: - between autonomy and togetherness; - between accountability for oneself and caring for or leaning on others; and - between living according to one's values and honoring diversity. I prioritize curiosity, compassion, your inherent worth as a human being, and the authenticity of your emotions. My demeanor is calm and friendly, and I foster a collaborative relationship in therapy.
