Licensed Professional Counselor in Broomfield, CO
Learning how our thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected allow us to begin to challenge the thoughts that are no longer helpful. Most of us learned unhelpful thoughts or messages growing up and this can impact our self-esteem or the choices we make into adulthood. I'm passionate about helping you see the thoughts that no longer serve you so you can learn more helpful, empowering thoughts that lead to feeling happier and more satisfied with life.
I am a licensed addictions counselor and have an extensive background in working with families with addiction. My specialty lies with the people who love the addict or one in recovery. The relationship patterns and dynamics associated with addictions can be tricky and I am skilled in helping make sense of what is going on and why you might feel the way you do. Learning how to change codependent behaviors can seem overwhelming and I offer a gentle approach to help you begin to set boundaries.
Most of my professional experience has been in short term environments, whether in detox, short term residential, or only a handful of EAP sessions, I am skilled in connecting with clients quickly and effectively. This allows me to help identify the struggle as well as the solution, so you can start feeling better quickly. In my practice, the time spent with clients varies and I have had repeated success in helping clients find relief in only a few sessions.
Boundaries are a big part of codependency and we don't really ever learn what they are or how to set and hold them. We often times will feel guilty when those around us are struggling with a difficult emotions. Saying 'yes' when you really mean 'no' is super common. Working together you will learn your own codependent patterns so you can begin to shift them and feel better about yourself with yourself and also in relationships with others.
I received training through Postpartum Support International and also experienced perinatal anxiety firsthand. Pregnancy is a trip and when you throw wild hormones and mental health in the mix it can be a bumpy, wild ride. Learning about perinatal and postpartum mental health is the first step in knowing that you aren't crazy and that you can feel better. I am super passionate about helping expecting moms and new moms feel better so you can enjoy this incredible experience.
Experiencing grief is one of the hardest emotions we face. When we lose someone, people around us often have a hard time knowing what to say, or how to effectively offer support. I get it and have been there. Finding someone to help make sense of the grief can be extremely helpful in the healing process and it is my honor to be a part of your journey. Grief work can also be done around 'life losses' and can be just as important in healing and starting to feel somewhat whole again.
