About My Clients
I work with a range of clients at this time - aged between 14 - 62. I work with male identified, female identified, and non-binary clients across various slices of life. I work best with folks looking for a change or striving towards transition. My clients are often looking for tools to help them along the way while also seeking to better understand themselves and how their past affects their present day.
My Background and Approach
I have been practicing as an LCPC since 2020. My approach works strongly from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). There are many useful and approachable skills from DBT and CBT to apply for both current, short term, and long term changes. I also work strongly from narrative, gestalt, existential, object relations, and values-based work. Some of these areas lend themselves to helping clients who say "nothing is terrible right now but it feels like something is missing." I work closely with clients to explore these parts of themselves to articulate and begin making positive changes. For clients working to manage ADHD, I am trained in an evidence-based approach to teaching practical skills to manage attention, distractability, and prioritization.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I majored in philosophy in undergrad with a focus on symbolic logic, metaphysics, emotions, philosophy of mind, and action/agency. In great and human ways, I believe we are all trying our best and we are all good at heart, but may struggle to show it. I am highly invested in being an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, which is an important reason why I chose to work at my current practice. I am also affirming and supportive of people in all sorts of relationships, whether monogamous, open, or polyamorous. In the crazy environment of today's world, I think that it is important for us to find a place to be grounded and secure -- to have a base where we can rest and from which we can go into the world to live our lives the way we want and make the impact we desire to have. It is my hope that for my clients, the therapy space can be a piece of that.
