About My Clients
My clients are individuals who are experiencing Anxiety and are hoping to obtain some support when facing life transitions/changes.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York. I have been practicing therapy for over 7 years and have years of supervisory experience. I have had the pleasure of working with individuals, groups, and families of many demographic backgrounds. I have worked with a variety of presenting needs: anxiety, depression, identity issues, acculturation difficulties, terminal illness, interpersonal difficulties, trauma, and vocational difficulties. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients achieve the best version of themselves. I typically use cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques. However, I strongly believe that the effectiveness of therapy lies in the therapeutic relationship.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As someone who has been in the seat of the client before, I know from experience that sometimes you just need a safe space to talk. I have faced a variety of transitions throughout life which have provoked anxiety. I was able to cope and face all transitions through counting on my support system, yoga, meditation, and modifying some of my behaviors. I also know from personal experience, the importance of representation and cultural awareness in the therapy room. I am a female Latina who is always interested in learning more about other people's culture and what shapes their worldview. With that said, I utilize my personal and professional experience to assist my clients in achieving the goals they have identified. I hope to help my clients gain more self-awareness and self-acceptance. I prefer to collaborate with my clients when determining the course of treatment and the pace.
