About My Clients
You may currently feel less confident, creative, or connected. Your body or physical health may be pushing you to address your well-being from a different angle. Or maybe a more spiritual or soulful part of you is tugging at your heart strings. Ultimately, you likely want to experience some understanding or growth. In therapy, we will come to understand your symptoms as signals and we will make space for your core yearnings and your meaningful process.
My Background and Approach
I received my PhD from Columbia University where I also conducted research and taught courses on nonverbal communication, emotion regulation, bereavement and culture. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relationship issues, and integrate my training in various approaches to meet the needs of each individual client. I also incorporate a comprehensive assessment of any physical health concerns to ensure our treatment goals address all aspects of your well-being. I am an active yoga practitioner and my training in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY) informs my clinical philosophy and therapeutic approach. I work to create effective, evidenced-based treatment plans with you to better enable you to recognize and actualize your capabilities and goals. My clients describe me as warm, direct, and insightful.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach is grounded in a scientific and compassionate understanding of the challenges of modern human life (i.e., isolation, self-doubt, overthinking, chronic stress). The body like the mind is integral to our well-being, so if clients are interested, I integrate embodiment and mindfulness practices into our therapy work.
