About My Clients
My clients tend to be individuals who struggle to advocate for themselves in relationships- whether they be work, romantic, familial or friendly. They tend to put other people's feelings before their own. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, or both. I work with a lot of people who experienced emotional neglect in childhood, and/or self centered parents, and/or very oppressive home environments.
My Background and Approach
I have a very open and non judgmental approach. I tend to work with people who are curious and struggling in certain ways, but are so used to focusing on others, they often struggle to identify how they feel. I tend to work relationally, and ask a lot of questions to help identify what it is you are needing, desiring, and feeling. Feeling things can be hard. Sometimes it is easier to help others or avoid conflict, but I want to help you find your voice. Together, we will work on increasing your confidence in stating how you feel, and identifying your needs. I studied at the California Institute of Integral Studies. I trained at the Integral Counseling Center at Pierce St., as well as Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center and Charles Drew Elementary. I enjoy working with 20, 30, and 40 something’s. I have continued my education through weekly consultation who have all been psychoanalysts. This has influenced my work heavily and I enjoy this framework when working with clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all should have access to mental health services. I reserve a portion of spots in my practice for sliding scale fees. I believe everybody deserves to be heard and seen. I support many organizations that fight to protect people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ, animal welfare, sex workers, and bodies at every size. I love working with members of the LGBTQ community. While I have worked on increasing my own white privilege, I believe this is a lifelong process and continually challenge myself to look at my own assumptions, judgements and biases. I genuinely believe that we are all unique and different and if you believe something different than me, I am committed to respecting and honoring your beliefs. I have been told I have an “anything goes” personality, and I intend on keeping it that way.
