About My Clients
Welcome to a space designed for those who dedicate their lives to helping others—therapists, caregivers, and folks in the helping professions. You cannot “therapitize” yourself no matter how hard you try. My clients know that what they are doing isn’t working, but don’t know how to apply what they know to their own lives. You also know that the answer isn’t self-care, but are afraid of disappointing other people if you try to make a bigger change.
My Approach to Helping
I am a recovering people pleaser and perfectionist myself, who appreciates a calendar invite for every event and loves a checklist. I’ve worked in nonprofits and hospitals, and know the feeling of emotional exhaustion that comes from taking care of my clients, my friends, my family, my two rescue dogs, and everyone else in my life while trying to “take time for self-care”. Through my own therapy, I’ve learned the importance of strengthening my voice and my spine. I work with therapists, caregivers, and helping professionals recover from people-pleasing, perfectionism, and over-achieving. They are trying to manage overbooked calendars with multiple responsibilities. They say "yes" when they mean “no" to accommodate the needs of others at their own expense. While my responsibilities, overwhelm, and relationships may look different than yours, I know why you stay up late (even though you have to get up early) scrolling on your phone while watching reality television.
More About the People I Treat
Most of my clients experiencing people-pleasing, perfectionism, and overachieving are struggling to balance their own needs with their many obligations. And, their high expectations are also starting to affect their relationships. Therapy may be for you if: You want to receive from others as much as you give Guilt, resentment, and frustration are daily emotions for you You’re struggling with a sense of worth outside of your productivity Negative beliefs about yourself are starting to surface and negatively affect how you show up for yourself Being told you need to schedule self-care in your already busy schedule makes you want to pull your hair out You Deserve Support, Too My goal for my clients is to live a more balanced and authentic life, and to believe they are more than what they can do for others.
