Licensed Professional Counselor in Portland, OR
I work with women at all stages in their lives. I have particular training and background with perinatal mental health challenges including infertility, infant loss, new parents, new identities and mom and parenting challenges. I have been working with the Baby Blues Connection organization for over 10 years and work with clients individually, a couples and in groups. I have personal experience in this arena and find this work important and much needed for our communities.
Self Esteem encompasses so many areas of our lives...communication, relating, making plans/goals in our close relationships and in our communities of work, family and play. I am certified in Brene\' Brown\'s curriculum of Shame Resilience to help us sort out the details and live our fuller and happier life. Our self esteem drives the directions we go and finding ways to increase it's health can only help us. I am empathetic and supportive as we identify challenges and find solutions.
We all experience loss in our lives whether it is the loss of an influential person, job or experience. We even experience loss and grief with \'good\' things happen, we move, have the birth or adoption of a child, get a new job, etc. We often need help and compassion to sort through the various feelings and process the steps to help us move into places of acceptance of our new situations. Comprehensive grief work can help us get through and around change with compassion for ourselves.
My longstanding practice has involved CBT for years. With clients we explore how our thoughts, actions, feelings and behaviors effect each other every day. In our work we identify thinking errors that can harm us in our work to resolve conflicts in our relations and within self esteem challenges. I am also certified in Brené Brown's work as a Daring Way™ professional which focuses on Shame Resilience which involves exploring our thought processes and how they can hinder us.
I am Gottman level one trained clinician. This work can be done individually or in couples work. The content is also applicable to new families with new or additional children in helping the parents communicate in a healthy and effect ways during this time of change and transition in their lives. I am certified in the Bringing Baby Home™ curriculum which can be explored individually. Gottman work can also be applied in grief and loss challenges.
Our work can be centered on identifying and working towards resolution on a current or persistent issue that is interfering with your current life healthy balance. The direct approach of problem identification and solution exploring can feel very empowering. Sometimes this may lead to deeper unpacking of issues but, initially it is about problem solving and stability.
