My Background and Approach
I believe in the power of relationships to help us heal and grow. Building a solid, trusting relationship with you is the most important task as we begin the journey of therapy together. Through a strong collaborative effort, I help you to re-discover your strengths and skills in order to resist the current difficulties in your life. I am an ally, a coach, and an advocate for your well being. I can help you strengthen your relationships and increase connection with the important people in your life. I bring a wealth of life experience to my work with you. Having had two successful careers as an artist in television & film, I bring creativity, humor, compassion and mindfulness to problem solving. As a parent of teenagers, I understand the unique challenges young people have today. I listen. I am also a certified Mediator by the SF Bar (2018).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we struggle the most when we feel disconnected from others. Our problems can seem enormous and insurmountable when we hide them away through shameful feelings of unworthiness. This can lead us to develop false narratives about who we are, who we can become and blind us to the possibilities for joy and healing. It can also lead us to isolate from our loved ones and even from ourselves. You are not alone. You do not have to stay weighted down, stuck or in despair. You do not have to wait for things to get better on their own. And you don't have to just "get over it" all by yourself. The relationship we develop together in therapy is a powerful tool towards feeling better. Through conversation and collaboration we will examine the origins of the problem, how it impacts you, and together we will search for solutions that will empower you and give you hope. I will create a safe, nonjudgmental space so that you feel supported and seen, just as you are.
