About My Clients
Together we may use various avenues such as music, art, dream analysis and somatic experiencing to address your therapeutic goals, which I can help you define. I love working with people from all backgrounds and experiences, and am especially interested in supporting people from marginalized and LGBTQIA+ communities, as well as veterans.
My Background and Approach
I am a musician and an artist, and know first hand how the artistic process leads to transformative therapeutic experiences. I utilize a number of somatic and artistic methods that allow people to create meaning in their lives and shift their perspectives for the good of themselves, as well as their communities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Understanding the mind-body connection is a crucial part of the therapeutic process, and that getting to know the nature of the unconscious allows us to have an honest view of our humanity. A conscious relationship with the self allows a person to contribute to the world around them in ways that are authentic. I think it is disingenuous for therapy to ignore the fact that our environments, culture, and how we are identified within those constructs affect our psychologies. I am interested in an honest approach to understanding how culture shapes a person, so they may re-approach life from an empowered perspective. I embrace the teachings of liberation psychology and intersectionality, as we do not (and never have) existed in a vacuum. I believe that life can be a fascinating ride, and keeping in mind that death is inevitable makes room for us to prioritize what it means to live a valuable, meaningful life - and that this meaning does not come from anywhere except from within
