About My Clients
I am passionate about working with clients ages 16+. Walking along side my clients to help them determine their values and what they truly want out of life while overcoming the barriers that have prevented them from reaching these goals, whether this may be depression, anxiety, past traumas or perfectionist tendencies. I also have a passion for working with adolescents and adults as they learn how to navigate life again following the loss of a loved one in their life.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin. I am also trained EMDR therapist. In addition, I specialize in treating grief and loss. I am a Certified Grief Informed Professional, and a suicide loss bereavement specialist. My clinical approach is shaped by my training in several research-based therapies with specific attention to your individual needs, values, and goals. I frequently draw from mindfulness-based approaches (i.e. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), relational focused modalities (Interpersonal Psychotherapy) and trauma base modalities (EMDR- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ). As a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIAP+ affirming therapist, I am committed to life-long personal and professional learning and to developing an individualized treatment plan that will support you in accomplishing your therapeutic goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that one of the bravest things a person can do is to explore and understand their own story. I feel privileged to walk alongside my clients and partner with them as they deepen their understanding of their story. I believe that as humans we are hardwired for connection, safety and growth. I provide a therapeutic space that is safe, supportive, and non-judgmental. A therapeutic space that can help people learn to trust and accept nourishment within a relationship where they feel understood and can grow. My therapeutic style is warm, direct, and relational; therefore, you can expect me to bring authenticity, collaboration, acceptance, and humor to my sessions. Outside of my work as a therapist, I volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
