About My Clients
I have experience in working with a wide variety of people and have found that I best serve individuals (teens 16+ and adults) who are struggling with phase of life transitions, anxiety, negative self-image, and trauma. I am an active therapist, so we'll be a good fit if you are ready to learn, feeling motivated to get started and make some change, and would like hands on tools.
My Background and Approach
My background is in helping people with severe trauma and complex posttraumatic stress (PTSD and C-PTSD) through CBT, DBT, EMDR, psychoeducation, resources, and mindfulness training. I believe in the power of the therapeutic alliance and hold it in reverence. I am going to be real with you to make it safe for you to be real with me. Safety and trust are of the utmost importance in therapy, and I strive to create the safest environment possible in which we can unpack what you're bringing into the room together. I believe that a person's spiritual life is very important, too, so if it's important to you, then it's important that there is space for it in your therapy. I believe every person possesses the fundamental wisdom within that is required for moving forward, making changes, and healing. Most of all, I believe that what needs to come up will, and I believe that you know yourself better than anyone else in the world ever could. Thus, therapy is a collaborative effort.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community and care deeply about our community. I am also an advocate for the HAES, Body Positive, and Fat Acceptance communities and can approach these issues with a HAES-informed perspective. I am an ally to BIPOC communities. I am also a veteran of the US Air Force and Operation Enduring Freedom, an active duty spouse, and therefore am intimately familiar with military life and culture, and all of the challenges that come with it. I am a lover of nature and the Earth, and believe that we all really need wild spaces in our lives to truly thrive and be at our healthiest. My dream for the future is to create an ecotherapy practice which facilitates psychedelic-assisted therapy and integration, and women's PTSD group therapy wilderness expeditions in the future.
