I am an "older" person who has lived life and experienced much. I became a therapist 6 years ago after becoming an "empty nester". I was a hypnotherapist in my town for several years before deciding to go back to school to get my Master's in Counseling and then started the 3-year journey to getting my LPC. I have had my LPC for just over a year now. I use a variety of techniques when working with clients dependent on the client's needs. I believe that the client is the best judge of what works and what doesn't. The client is the expert of themselves, I am just the person that is helping them discover things that perhaps they might not be aware of, to bring out their authentic self, to bring out their strength, to validate their feelings, and appreciate and support their journey.
I believe that each of us travels a path and along that path, we may find boulders or small stones that create a challenge. However, no one consciously says that they want to find these, no one purposely chooses the hard path, we each have a desire to reach our goals but sometimes we just need a little help to do so. Therapists are not the only people that can help you walk these paths but we are one option.
I also believe that each person should be respected for who they are no matter what gender they identify as, no matter what their skin tone is, no matter what their spiritual belief is, no matter who they love. It is only by learning to accept and respect each other as human beings with faults as well as wonderful qualities that we will learn to be happy with who we are.
I especially love working with those that identify as LGBTQ or questioning, alternative lifestyles or curious. Ages 15 years and up
