About My Clients
My ideal clients would all have a couple things in common, vulnerability and the willingness to grow. Client's I am well suited for are those dealing with addiction LGBTQA+ issues. Preferably those willing to be in therapy for such a severe issue, attend twelve-step meetings, and participate in group therapy. In my experience, combining the three seems to be the most beneficial for the recovering addict.
My Background and Approach
I believe therapy is a collaboration between therapist and client. I utilize a client-centered approach that includes aspects of CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and humanistic methodologies in an effort to help clients reach their goals and potential. No two people are the same, so I believe remaining open to varying techniques is best suited for seeing change. One client may do well with homework, and another may do well with mindfulness, both of which show value.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy should be a collaboration between therapist and client and will do what is best for his clients. I utilize a person-centered approach that includes aspects of CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and humanistic methodologies to help clients reach their goals and potential. My general areas of focus are on the LGBTQ+ community, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, neurodivergence, sex positivity, CNM, and those living with infectious diseases. My favorite saying is, “feelings are not facts; however, your feelings are valid.” I believe self-care is essential and that it takes many forms. As a former actor/singer, a large part of my routine is to sing whenever possible and attend the theatre whenever the opportunity presents itself. Other areas of my self-care routine are spending time with family and friends, fitness, taking walks, and watching a good comedy like Doctor Who.
