About My Clients
I offer a supportive and nonjudgemental environment for clients to get to know themselves on a deeper level through creative expression. In sessions you will use art and other creative processes to explore new ways of problem solving, building self-esteem, processing trauma or grief, managing stress, or working through feelings of depression. Your immediate needs will determine the work we do and I will partner with you to help get you closer to your wellness goals.
My Background and Approach
My approach is highly integrative and client-centered. I tailor sessions to meet the unique needs of the individuals I work with. Based on your goals the creative directives you engage in may be integrated with DBT, Mindfulness or Attachment based approaches. I also have extensive training and experience working with individuals and families who have experienced trauma or been otherwise impacted by adverse events, and found the creative process to be an effective tool in processing relationship traumas and challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that within each individual there is underlying resilience and strength. Sometimes these qualities get buried under our feelings of depression, our traumas, our losses, or just gets lost in the mix as we feel dumped on by the stressors of daily life. My objective as a therapist is to help you clear a path through whatever it is that challenges you so you can better recognize your own strengths and feel more capable when it comes to coping on a regular basis. I believe strongly in the mind body connection and in my career have fought against the stigmatization of mental health challenges. I have worked with many individuals who have not felt heard by their mental health care teams and because of this I am a constant advocate for client-centered treatment within institutional settings. I offer workshops and trainings in order to help all tiers of mental healthcare workers become more informed about trauma response and trauma informed care.
