Clinical Social Worker in Austin, TX
I began my career in the hospice field, working with people as they neared end-of-life. For almost a decade I counseled patients and families in their anticipatory grief and after a death in their bereavement. Sitting with the dying, supporting caregivers, and holding space for those in mourning has been my training ground for supporting people in grief. Recently, I have also counseled employees and teams who are dealing with losses of colleagues due to COVID-19.
Life is full of transistion and my experince in working with people across the lifespan has helped me understand the unique phases of transition people go through. I have seen clients through many major life experiences including loss, cancer, graduation, professional change, moves, births, fertility journeys, marriages, divorces and gender and identity transitions.
I am trained in Gottman Couples Method Level 1 and 2. I enjoy the dynamics of working with a couple and formulating tangible goals. In couples work, I strive to help each person feel heard, validated and empowered to show up as their best selves in the relationship.
