Body image issues are not unique to those struggling with eating disorders. Many people struggle with body image concerns, especially with the media's influence, diet culture, and fat phobia. It is okay if loving every part of your body seems far fetched-I want to help you work toward body acceptance and neutrality! If you are preoccupied with thoughts about food and/or your body, how your clothes fit, how you look, etc. lets talk!
Getting help for an eating disorder is a difficult first step and is a hard process for individuals and their loved ones. I have worked with eating disorders for many years now, from outpatient care to the residential level. Maybe you're so preoccupied with thoughts about eating, food, exercise & other behaviors that you no longer have brain space to think of other things. I am experienced, compassionate, direct, and supportive and want to help you have a life in recovery!
I have worked with many individuals who have experienced past traumas or difficult life events in much of my work. It broke my heart to hear about the trauma so many of my clients had experienced so I decided to become EMDR trained by the Institute for Creative Mindfulness. I now utilize EMDR therapy to help individuals reprocess these difficult experiences and beliefs to decrease the negative impacts on their lives. If you're curious about how EMDR therapy may benefit you, lets chat!
