About My Clients
In the words of an old boss, "Carrie just gets people." Traditionally, I have worked with diverse, underserved populations, and love to find the human (ness) in everyone. I've had the pleasure of work with substance use addictions, teens in correctional facilities, homeless populations, Neuro- "Spicey" individuals, couples navigating life, and many more.
My Background and Approach
You know the most about you, and I can come alongside you as support. I like to meet people where they are and join the conversation. I use experiential therapy for as a way to move forward, and psychodynamic model for understanding how things came to be. (Although I will say, Freud was not right about everything! #Psychjoke). If you'd like to know more, I'm happy to see If I am a good fit, via phone.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I love working with Neuro Diversity. I am Neuro Spicy myself (and my kiddos). I often choose NeuroSpicy employees to hire for two reasons: 1) If you set the spicey individual on a task they are good at, just try and stop them. 2) NeuroSpicy folks are some of the most undervalued people in a work environment, and if you make a safe space for them, they are very loyal. Likely they've been through some adverse work experiences, and they often underestimate themselves. Also, in another work life, I supervised the call center for community members accessing services, worked with our local 24/7 hotline, and handled all kinds of emergency calls. We were also the department to assess and sort clients. So, I oversaw the clinicians who Diagnosed many DSM 5 TR disorders, and made appropriate treatment recommendations. Cool stuff.
