About My Clients
I treat individuals, adults (early 20s and above), and work both virtually and in-person. I am probably most useful to those of you suffering from past trauma; however, I will do my best to help anyone who crosses my path - I have a growing list of resources on my website and if you and I decide we aren't a good match, I will do my best to refer you to someone who is right for you.
My Background and Approach
First and foremost, I support and affirm all LGBTQ+ identities and I am respectful of all racial, ethnic, and cultural identities and experiences. I spent 21 years in the U.S. military and have been peer mentoring in the addiction recovery community for over 10 years. My time with these two populations, and my own personal experiences, have given me a passion for understanding and treating trauma and the many conditions that arise along with it. I work with a trauma-focused approach because all human beings have experienced trauma as a part of life, and few of us have processed every trauma entirely. However, it is up to the client what we work on, so don't feel that you will be pushed into "finding" or addressing past events.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strive to include social justice and anti-racism in my approaches to therapy and my own personal life. I volunteer with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) and communicate regularly with my government representatives on important legislative issues. I have a passion for populations that are especially devalued by society; unfortunately, this list is long, but some examples are people suffering from addictions, people who are or were incarcerated, and immigrants, both documented and undocumented.
