About My Clients
My best-fit clients are teen girls and adult women. I support clients struggling with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-worth, relationships, work stress, and life transitions. If you are motivated to make changes in your life, want help to reach your goals, and/or need a non-judgmental space to process your thoughts and feelings, I'm here to help you on your journey to wholeness and healing.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed mental health counselor associate (LMHCA) with 14 years of school counseling experience helping students and parents with concerns related to ADHD, anxiety, grief, conflict resolution, and bullying. I started my private practice in 2000 to focus on what I love most: helping others in the unique therapeutic relationship that occurs in individual and group therapy. It brings me tremendous joy to utilize my lived experience, training, skills, and knowledge to help clients find clarity, learn healthy life skills, and get what they want and need out of life in whatever season they are in. The foundation of my counseling approach is eclectic and person-centered therapy. Within that framework, I draw from solution-focused brief therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy to meet the unique needs of each client. Working together in sessions, you'll gain the insight, skills, and motivation to reach your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe that anyone can benefit from counseling. The key to effective counseling is finding a good-fit therapist. If you haven't found that person yet, keep looking! You might be feeling discouraged, and frustrated, but your mental health is worth it. A variety of life experiences have shaped who I am and how I show up in my therapeutic relationship and work with clients: dismantling insecurities and shame I had from experiencing racial discrimination and microaggressions as a first generation Chinese-American, overcoming childhood trauma, managing perfectionism and anxiety, and learning to take risks in the face of intense fear. My own work in therapy has empowered me to accomplish my goals and I want to help you do the same! The people and struggles near and dear to my heart are really summed up in feelings of being marginalized or "not quite fitting" in dominant culture. If that's you, I might be the person to help you on your wellness journey!
