About My Clients
I help clients learn the value of expressing their emotions with trusted others. We work to understand the events in their life that contribute to their mood symptoms. I help identify alternatives to self-harm and work to help decrease suicidal thoughts. Client share when they are able to express their needs/wants effectively, and honor themselves, they experience improved self-esteem, self-confidence/acceptance. My clients learn they are "enough, significant, and valuable" as they are.
My Background and Approach
I have worked with a variety of clients which has allowed me to better understand of various challenges people face, day to day. I have worked with clients who struggle with psychosis, children in foster care, and families who struggle with communication/relational problems. I help clients learn to manage their depression, anxiety, including panic attacks, in an effort to maintain the lifestyles they desire. Currently my focus is working with teens, women, active duty military/veterans, military spouses/dependents. I help my clients learn effective coping skills, (DBT/Mindfulness/etc.), to decrease instances of self-harm, suicidal ideation, and work through various types of trauma. I also assist clients in building self-esteem and confidence, as well as begin to understand their own personal values and to live their lives in line with those values. My clients work to learn the importance of setting and maintaining boundaries, and that their wants/needs are as valuable as others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that clients are the best directors of their own lives. This means, you know what is true and authentic to you. I view my role as someone who walk along side my client and assist them in reaching their personal goals (not mine). I am able to meet my client's where they are in their process, meaning if you are just starting to explore yourself/feelings/family dynamics/events from your past, or you have begun to explore your experiences, I am right here with you. Therapy can be difficult and uncomfortable, however staying stuck is just as uncomfortable. You do not have to do this on your own. Many of us have been taught "things could be worse." However, right now something is not working in your life and that is enough to seek help, you deserve to be heard and supported. I support people from various cultural, religious/spiritual, and minority communities. Feel free to reach out and share what you are looking for ask any questions to see if I might be a good fit.
