About My Clients
I work with successful and creative individuals, as well as those who have high-stress jobs. Although everything may seem fine on paper, it's often a different story on the inside. You might be feeling burnt out and going through the motions, or you could be feeling overwhelmed by your emotions. Many people find themselves stuck in survival mode, caused by several factors such as unconscious unmet needs or stuck trauma patterns. The good news is there is a gentle and safe way through!
My Background and Approach
Somatic therapy is a practical and profound approach that activates various parts of the brain, including those related to emotions, problem-solving, and sensory learning. This approach helps to soften chronic tension, change flight or fight responses, and regulate the nervous system. By using tools such as mindfulness, grounding, and practicing to slow down, we can access the unconscious material and get to the root of the problem. After a few sessions, clients often report feeling more relaxed and connected with themselves, and with further practice, they can improve their confidence and comfort with their authentic selves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a passionate artist and therapist, I believe that the cultural spaces we occupy, the quality of our attention, and the nature of our community impact who we are. My training as a somatic therapist has taught me the importance of listening to more direct communication from the body. I find the complex interplay between mind, body, and emotions to be endlessly inspiring and fascinating. To find solace, I often turn to nature, movement, and building connections with my neighbors. I regularly practice yoga, attend exercise classes, and engage in mindfulness exercises. I am also an advocate for social justice causes, including those related to the rights of oppressed groups such as LGBTQI individuals, indigenous people, BIPOC, and differently-abled individuals.
