About My Clients
Have you struggled with anxiety and or depression? Do you sometimes find yourself being your own worst enemy with negative self-talk? Are you feeling overwhelmed or powerless to change? I understand how difficult and often debilitating these symptoms can be. I'm here to let you know, there is hope! My passion is helping people overcome these struggles and gain the skills they need to live their best life.
My Background and Approach
I have been in the counseling field for over ten years. My life experience along with my education and training have been vital in helping me connect with my clients. I believe that the client/therapist relationship is crucial to successful outcomes, therefore, I consider my alliance with my clients as one of the most important aspects of therapy. I take a relational, collaborative, non-judgemental approach, encouraging my clients to take ownership in their healing, while at the same time, guiding and supporting them along the way. I empathize with their struggles and use evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, Mindfulness, and Sandtry among other strategies to help my clients overcome their issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My favorite quote is from Dr. Wayne Dyer. He said, "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." I love this quote because it highlights the fact that we all have an innate ability to make changes in our lives. Often times, when we are faced with difficulties that seem insurmountable, we can feel stuck, overwhelmed and powerless. But we are not powerless! Our brains are very flexible. With the right therapist and the right approach, we can change the way we think about things, change our perspective, learn new skills, and gain new insight that can make a difference in our lives for the better! We only have to be ready and willing to try. As a widowed mother of four daughters, I have had to make many changes in my life and learn new ways of thinking and coping. I know it can be done and I would love to walk alongside you in your journey to regain your power by helping you learn a new healthier, happier way of thinking and living.
