About My Clients
We queer folks navigate the world differently from cis-het individuals, which comes with both unique challenges and profound beauty. While I work with people of all identities, my specialty lies in supporting queer, trans, and gender-diverse individuals (LGBTQIA+ folks). I'm dedicated to creating a safe, affirming, and empowering space, where you can gain insight, get in touch with your emotions, and connect with your authentic self, free from fear or judgement.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on insight and connection. We’ll work together to better understand yourself and your relationships, uncovering patterns and exploring if you'd like to shift them. I’ll meet you where you are, guiding you to live more fully and authentically. We will also dive deeply into your emotions, creating space to process them, because, though our society encourages emotional suppression, burying painful feelings can lead to greater issues. Feedback and collaboration is another very important ingredient in how I approach therapy. While I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing feedback as it arises, I’ll regularly check in to see how you are experiencing our work (e.g., what's helpful, what's not as helpful, and any other feedback you're willing to provide). Through it all, I’ll be by your side, offering steady support as we navigate the path toward healing and growth together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a white, queer, cisgender woman. I recognize that the identities that we hold impact the way in which we navigate the world. Often, people are capable of much more than we settle for, and society can stifle our ability to live up to this potential. In taking this into consideration, I endeavor to empower you and help you to work toward your potential and happiness. My clinical work has been heavily influenced by my social justice and anti-oppression values. I seek to empower my clients by exploring how dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression have shaped their lives and/or resulted in trauma. I am on an un-ending journey to do better and be better for my clients, both personally and as a therapist. I strive for cultural humility and to provide the most culturally-responsive services. I am part of the clinical team at the Aguirre Center for Inclusive Psychotherapy, which specializes in providing anti-oppressive services.
