Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Redding, CA
At any given time in the four years I have been practicing, about two-thirds of my clients are people who do not identify as cisgender. I have participated in conferences and professional symposia related to this population, including Gender Spectrum and Translife, and regularly communicate and collaborate with other professionals who work with transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people.
Despite being a member of the LGBTQ community, I sought specific training to become a competent therapist for same. I have worked as a clinician in two LGBTQ centers and served as an advisor to a high school LGBTQ club. I am a member of Gaylesta, the Psychotherapist Association for Gender and Sexual Diversity.
Part of my initial training included working with people who self-identify as "sexual outsiders," and this is something that has applied to many of my clients. I am a member of Bay Area Open Minds, an organization for psychotherapists who affirm that sexual and gender diversity are natural expressions of the human experience. I attend panels and presentations as well as kink events.
