About My Clients
I work with teens and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have experience working with BIPOC clients, lower income populations, adults (under 65), teens, and children. I am currently in a group private practice that specializes in Asian American mental health. A lot of my clients seek me to explore their Asian American identity issues, feelings of inadequacy resulting in perfectionism, and intergenerational trauma (this includes emotional neglect/abuse from their parents).
My Background and Approach
Family, friends, and society tells you who you should be: what you are not enough of, what you are too much of, how you should show up in the world. You feel constantly conflicted. Sacrificing your authentic self, who you truly want to become, to fulfill others’ expectations. The constant internal struggle seems unmanageable and overwhelming. In my self-discovery process, I learned that many of us do not even know who our authentic selves are. Especially in Asian Americans, I see my clients constantly conflicted between individualistic vs. collectivistic values, and I understand deeply how exhausting and confusing this is, as I've experienced this myself. I am a second-generation Korean American and have my unique experiences with my immigrant parents. I come from a background of intergenerational trauma (including abuse), grief, and being constantly shackled by guilt due to meeting family obligations. I help explore who you really are, and who you want to become.
