About My Clients
I work with adolescents and adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, or are having relational issues. It is difficult to reach out especially if you are experiencing distress in your life. I am here to help you move towards self-reliance and self-compassion, gain coping skills, and build self-confidence. I do both individual and group therapy. I am licensed in both Texas and California. I can see clients in person and virtually.
My Background and Approach
I am a Latinx licensed psychologist in both Texas and California. I have been working in the field of counseling since earning a Master of Science in Clinical/Counseling Psychology in 1992 then my doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 1998. I have worked in various settings including schools, county mental health, private and corporate consulting, university counseling centers and private practice. My goal is to provide an open and supportive environment in order to build a collaborative working relationship or partnership. I work towards creating a non-judgmental environment where you will feel listened to and valued. I welcome working with diverse cultures and populations. I utilize a cognitive behavioral therapy modality along with humanistic and interpersonal aspects while acknowledging the importance of cultural implications on conceptualization and diagnosis.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Transitions or life events can lead us to feel anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed. A supportive environment is important to feel heard and understood. I believe in actively working with my clients to gain new coping skills and shedding negative language that creates negative self-worth. I believe that therapy can help us find our best self and move us towards self-acceptance and happiness.
