About My Clients

Finding healing and purpose is a difficult and daunting task. Where do we even start? How do we ask for help? Maybe you feel that you shouldn’t need help or that you don’t deserve it. Maybe you’re used to saying, “I’m fine,” but you feel lost + stuck. It's frustrating when you know there are healthy parts inside of you longing to be expressed, but you just can’t seem to figure out how to reconnect with them. We're here to be with you and to help you be with you.

My Background and Approach

Hello, I'm Cris, clinical director at Creative Now Therapy. Our therapists Autumn, Lavender, and Christine specialize in using Somatic, Gestalt, and Creative Arts psychotherapy alongside traditional talk therapy to approach: trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, life transitions + sudden events, alternative lifestyles, and identity exploration. Some of our identities are: Ecuadorian, Spanish, Filipino, Black, first gen, Latinx, trans, gender non-conforming, Californian, avid hikers. -We are Board Certified and Licensed in Creative Arts Therapy + Psychotherapy -We hold Masters from the School of Visual Arts and Pratt in Creative Arts -We are Gestalt Psychotherapy Certified, a post-graduate clinical fellowship from the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy -We are Certified Developmental Somatic Psychotherapist, post-graduate training at the Center For Somatic Studies -Cris is currently completing a 2-year training in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We work from a Somatic and Experiential stance, meaning that we do not privilege one experience over the other or label certain behaviors as healthy or unhealthy. Instead, we work with you to understand your experience and the function of the behaviors and thoughts around it. Rather than trying to make a feeling go away or attempting to ‘fix you or change you,’ we are using the resources you do have (even if they are limiting you in the present) and expanding on them to generate new behaviors. We include body awareness and use the creative process to help access and unearth behaviors and feelings that have fallen outside our awareness. Finally, we believe that every client comes from a different background than we do, and therefore we treat them as the expert of their experience. We are comfortable naming differences in the room and exploring how this might impact our client’s therapy experience and their lives.
