About My Clients
I have experience with adolescent, adult and family focused services in community mental health, school based and private practice settings. Most clients in my practice are looking for support with managing overwhelming life situations, and/or symptoms of anxiety and depression. I have also supported Black and other people of color seeking support with racialized trauma and managing sociocultural stress in society.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a strength-based, and client centered approach to the therapeutic process, incorporating personal strengths and direction from the person receiving support. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Solution Focused modalities to support the overall needs and goals of the individual. I am also very passionate about the integration of intersectional, cultural elements into our work, including the acknowledgement of environmental and societal elements that impact an individual’s experience of the world. I believe in the inherent worth of all people and supporting a judgement free space to explore the many intersecting parts of a person’s life to support overall wellness. I have 20 years of experience in the counseling working with culturally diverse populations in a variety of settings to support with concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and other life challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Black woman, social worker and therapist, I believe in therapy support that holds the importance of all of our intersecting parts. I am a social justice advocate for the equity related to Black and other racially marginalized folks, and supporting people in thriving from sociocultural trauma and oppression. I honor the inherent worth of all people and follow the Social Work values of the National Association of Social Work. And I strongly hold the importance of being Black in society and the Black Lives Matter.
