My counseling theory is Person-Centered Therapy (PCT). PCT provides that each person in counseling should be met with unconditional positive regard and empathy. Additional tools and techniques from other counseling theories are used as needed to support client care. Every client brings into each session their own unique experiences within their cultural, social or ethnic group, faith, family unit, and other personalized experiences. When working with clients, I approach care from an open-mind perspective. Whether or not I am a member of the same cultural or social group, practice the same religion, or grew up in the same area or socio-economic class, every person has their own individual lived experience. I ensure I ask questions when appropriate, seek consultation when concerns arise that may be beyond my scope or understanding, and most importantly remain nonjudgmental.

I believe that every person deserves the opportunity to have an impactful counseling experience, if counseling is something they desire. The counseling space is one that should be safe and accessible to everyone. I believe that each person on our planet is an individual who brings with them a unique set of lived experiences. While two people may come from the same cultural group, same faith, or the same family, each person has their own voice and contribution to their world. As a counselor, my role is to provide a space for each of these individuals where they feel safe and comfortable to engage in the clinical experience.
