About My Clients
Are you struggling with a mental health challenge, trying to manage stress, processing a life issue, or working on personal growth and wellness? Do you want to strengthen your identity, develop greater resilience, or find ways to honor your own values? If so, then I'm here for you.
My Background and Approach
As a former physician, I graduated first in my class from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine in 2002, completed my pediatric residency training at Stanford University Medical Center in 2005, and practiced as a hospital-based pediatrician for the next 15 years. Out of concern for the growing number of patients on my service who were struggling with suicidality, I completed courses in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) through the Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy in 2015 and integrated CBT into my medical practice. My interest in and passion for promoting mental wellness started me on the path to becoming a dedicated mental health provider. In 2020 I completed a Master of Science degree in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and in 2024 I completed an internship as a licensed professional counselor associate. My practice is now comprised exclusively of counseling and psychotherapy for adult clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
PADMA, the Sanskrit word for “lotus,” is an acronym for the principles that guide my clinical practice and daily life: Positivity, Authenticity, Development & Growth, Mutuality, and Appreciation & Gratitude. As a mental health counselor, I am motivated to help others achieve happiness, contentment, and fulfillment in their lives. I am an LGBTQ+ ally who identifies as cisgender/female but gender-nonconforming, heterosexual/straight, and trans-affirming. While I am a baptized Christian and confirmed Episcopalian, I am also a secular Buddhist with a history of atheism and agnosticism. In my free time I volunteer at the San Antonio Humane Society as a dog walker and Pet Pal.
