About My Clients
You were not made to fit “in the box”. You want to share who you are and what you are going through in authentic and validating space where you can be yourself. Sure, when starting out things might feel awkward. We will work to establish mutual trust and transparency alone the way - I am willing to invest in that time. In our session, the hour is about YOU - your thoughts, big life changes, behaviors, dreams, relationships, past, present, future, and your interests.
My Background and Approach
I offer support in a variety of ways, including: compassion, understanding, humor (when appropriate), accountability, metaphors that make sense to you, and honesty. In session, I might even say, “I’m gonna do that therapist thing… how does that make you feel?” I specialize in Mood Disorders, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Phase of Life Stressors, and Management of Avoidance Behaviors. In human terms, I work with a variety of stressors, including: general sadness or feeling "blah", self-doubt, people-pleasing, self-esteem, big or small life changes, fatigue, stress management, excessive thoughts and "what-if" thinking, relationship issues, and self-sabotage. I have 10 years experience in the mental health field ranging from outpatient care to intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and group homes. I offer an eclectic approach that includes a variety of therapeutic therapies/approaches. With this approach, I am able to meet you where you are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I became a therapist because I wanted to be the person I wish I had when I was younger - someone who would listen and understand what I was feeling, even if things couldn't change. I believe that being authentic to your true self and becoming resilient from what pushes you down can aid against feeling burned out, it could increase your sense of confidence, and it could change your life narrative. I promote an environment that is validating, affirming, inclusive, and empowering. I provide inclusive therapy regardless of age, race, ethnicity, ability-level, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, and gender identity. If you identify as part of any of these communities, I hope to have an honest conversation at the start of the therapeutic relationship and address any concerns you may have about therapy. While I want to continue to learn and grow as a person and as a professional, I never want to do that at the expense of your lived experience.
