Hello, I am fully licensed and credentialed LCSW/BCBA! I would love to be an advocate for you while providing a compassionate space.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Chicago, IL
I have been using CBT and ACT modalities when working with folks with anxiety. Using the concepts of defusion and commited action have been greatly helpful when managing anxiety. Developing and honing grounding and coping skills with clients is essential when managing anxiety.
Identifying maladaptive thought patterns, exploring their roots, and learning how to hold them with compassion and tenderness are crucial skills when examining self esteem. Using behavior skills training to develop assertiveness while practicing being your own best advocate is another major piece of my work in relation to self-esteem. Being able to hold your head up high and breathe with ease and confidence is another goal while doing this important work.
I have utilized Applied Behavior Analysis for several years when working with individuals on the the Autism Spectrum. Teaching individuals socially significant life skills has assisted in opening doors and created essential behavioral cusps. Modeling, shaping, and reinforcing appropriate alternative behaviors can be transformative for all populations!
I have used ACT not only with clients, but also in relation to my own life. I’m a strong proponent of walk the walk and talk the talk. Honing in on one’s values and making committed actions are truly important concepts in ACT. Utilizing mindfulness, staying present, and embracing acceptance can also be truly transforming for an individual on their journey. ACT is not a linear therapy, you can use any side of the hexaflex at any time.
Looking into and exploring the why’s and how’s of one’s thoughts is crucial in therapy. Understanding and feeling into the reality of the situation aids in making strides towards one’s personal goals.
