We all feel depressed every once in a while. Sometimes, we experience depression that goes beyond the "normal" scope of sadness. We may lose all interest in activities and people that used to make us feel really good. Your energy may be at an all-time low. Whether your depression was brought on by a traumatic event/loss or you cannot seem to figure out its origin, we will work together to process memories, identify causes, and implement strategies to get you back to feeling like yourself.
I have worked as a primary clinician in a substance abuse treatment center and understand that addiction is a complex issue. My primary goal when working with clients struggling with addiction is to help the client feel understood, cared for, and not judged in any fashion. I work with individuals to discover the nature of their addiction and life events/factors that may influence their behaviors. Together, we create a space of acceptance and vulnerability that encourages healing.
Anxiety is far more complex than most people realize. While we all have experienced anxious moments, some of us are plagued by consistent anxiety that feels incurable. Often, it feels like constant worry, guilt, and fear absorb every thought of every waking day. If this is you, know that I have had the same experience. It would be a pleasure to help you understand that you are not alone and that there are indeed ways to heal from debilitating anxiety.
I am trained in EMDR and believe that it is one of the best treatments in existence for trauma. I can help you process painful memories and reduce the negative symptoms that have followed you for years. You may have heard that EMDR is an intense form of therapy, but know that the pain you are/have been holding is far worse than the process of healing it.
Sometimes it is helpful for clients to recognize the many different parts within themselves and how they interact with other parts. It can almost seem like we have multiple people inside of us who all have different thoughts, opinions, and attitudes. I love helping clients identify their different parts and begin to learn how to manage and care for each of them.
I believe that all clients have an innate capacity for healing, and cherish the opportunity to walk alongside each individual as they recover from the hardships of life and recognize their inherent strengths. You are the expert on all matters concerning your life, and getting to journey with you toward healing is an honor for me.
