Often the byproduct of the environment we grew up in, recognizing how the patterns and behaviors that once provided us safety no longer serve us is one of the first steps to breaking this pattern. Slowly, we can start to alter these responses to the point that they are no longer our reflexive response. This often goes hand in hand with working on self worth.
For many of us we are raised to prioritize others ahead of ourselves. For much of our lives this feels normal and natural until the day where we realize we are not having our needs met. For many I work with this ties in with an element of codependency and feeling that our worth is tied to what we do for others. It means we are incapable of valuing ourselves and that even what we see in the mirror or when we self reflect, is less than the reality everyone else sees.
Childhood trauma is the worst inheritance many of us can come to own. For many it is truly a generational issue, passed down from parent to child dating back for many generations. We work to heal the child you were and address the patterns that tie into your adult life that once offered safety but now offer roadblocks and barriers to living the life you want and deserve. There are multiple paths, but each person’s journey is unique and centered on their experiences alone.
Many of us have experienced the pain of being different in some way. In therapy meeting people person to person and uniting over some of the universal experiences, fears and even needs we have can begin to help us move closer to where we seek to be on our healing journey. While we all experience things through different lenses, we all seek the same things and working to tackle the universal experiences enables us to feel more freedom.
Feeling seen and heard is something that so many of us lack in life. Therapy should be a place where you ALWAYS feel seen and heard. The journey of therapy is unique for each of us, and having the privilege to join you in this endeavor allows me to offer support and acceptance, even around those places, issues, and moments in your life where previously there has been none. Together, we work so that you are able to accept yourself, and show yourself the love you deserve.
Working with trauma there are a variety of modalities which can be effective, however the key is finding the one that works best for you. Understanding trauma and the impact it has on us, both short term as well as long term, is an important piece in trauma therapy. The work we do together can be intense, but understanding that you are not alone in processing through and working to heal from trauma can be very beneficial. Your experience is valid and here you will be seen, heard and believed.
