About My Clients
Treating eating disorders, disordered eating and body image concerns is a passion of mine. In addition, I have extensive experience with teens, college students, trauma, self-harm, anxiety, and depression. I am HAES-aligned, LGBTQIA+ affirming and neuro affirming and strive to help all humans feel safe. I have a special interest in first responders and chronic pain.
My Background and Approach
I believe in teaching skills to manage life stressors effectively through Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I love empowering my clients by teaching them how to cope with an unjust world AND how to use their voice and advocate for themselves. DBT skills have personally helped me and I am passionate about teaching these life-altering tools to others. I am one of those lifelong learners and frequently attend trainings to keep improving my skills so I can be the most effective therapist. Additionally, I treat PTSD using Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I also have training in play therapy and expressive arts. I have worked in mental health for two decades in a variety of roles. I earned my master's degree from Capella University. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My main value is authenticity and I strive to come across this way to every client. I believe all humans are capable of growth; some might need someone to believe in them and help them find the path there. If you're an overthinker we'll probably get along well as I can personally relate with that. A few fun facts about me are I am a proud cat mom and I grew up in South Florida. I recently relocated to Southern Arizona because I don't mind the heat (clearly). I love to be in nature and also enjoy reading, movies, music (mostly metal), musical theater, biking and hiking. I tend to use a lot of humor in my sessions and do my best to balance that with lots of validation. I will also gently call you out to help you reflect. If you think I may be a good fit, reach out.
