About My Clients
Do you find intimate relationships heart-achingly challenging? Does finding a great job or career feel really hard for you? Maybe your parents were unavailable or emotionally unstable. Perhaps your family experienced major stressors such as racism, immigration, or financial strain. Or you simply felt that not enough time and attention was given to your emotional and developmental needs as a child. Somatic therapy is a journey back to yourself that will enable you to heal your emotional wounds.
My Background and Approach
I've had a life-long interest in health, wellness, and making the world a better place. I started in non-profit management, then joined the peace corps, and continued in Public Health. After becoming a parent, I started my journey to a different type of career path, holding space with for people and families to access their own healing potential. Whatever your current challenges, working with a somatic therapist can help you get in touch with your body, a rich source of information and abilities to support you in achieving greater ease in difficult situations or relationships. Therapy with me is a safe container for holding all that may arise as you journey back to yourself, starting with your body. For couples, I've completed the Gottman level 1 training, and combine their research-based interventions with somatic (body-based) practices to help you and your partner be present in the moment, slow down conflict, and find movement towards growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in no longer wasting my time worrying whether I’ve made a mistake and instead giving myself a pass. I believe in the power of letting go of regret and self-recrimination and embracing self-acceptance. It took years of personal therapy to build my own self-confidence, quiet my inner critic, and help me understand how to communicate my true desires and set strong boundaries. Now each time I sit with a client and help them to befriend their own inner voices, or parts of themselves, and find their confidence, creativity and gifts, I rejoice in my work as a Somatic therapist. When not working, I enjoy going on outdoor adventures around the Bay Area with my family, and spending time with family and friends in our various communities. As an introvert, I also appreciate taking time for myself to unwind by walking in nature, reading novels, or simply sitting outside and taking some time to just be.
