My passion is to help others experience healing, find their power within themselves, and have a fulfilling life on their terms.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Ontario, CA
Have you experienced a traumatic or disturbing life experience? You are not alone. Many individuals have specific reactions to disturbing life experiences. I use a trauma-informed framework to promote safety, empowerment, and healing. I am also trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and may use this therapy to help you heal from symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
Do you feel sad or lonely? Depression can impact your relationships, your work, and your overall well-being. I will help you identify unhelpful thoughts that may contribute to depression and develop new ways of thinking. I may also teach you distress tolerance skills, ways to calm your body and mind (mindfulness), coping strategies, emotion regulation skills, and healthy interpersonal skills to address the depression.
You may be nervous or worried about attending therapy. Your feelings are valid. I will help you identify how thoughts and behaviors interact to create the anxiety you experience. Specific stress-reducing strategies will be introduced to help you manage stressors. I may incorporate interventions from mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program to assist you with reducing arousal and emotional reactivity and help you experience a deeper sense of calm and/or peace.
I received training in EMDR and I have experience treating other individuals using EMDR. I will assist you with accessing and processing traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to increase functional behaviors and resolution of symptoms. I start with an assessment of your history and collaborate with you about treatment goals and targets. I will ensure and/or teach ways to handle emotional distress before moving forward with reprocessing. Each session ends with grounding.
I have several years' experience using DBT with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, and other issues. I will help you better manage painful emotions and conflicts in relationships with new skills such as distress tolerance (increase tolerance to uncomfortable or distressing emotions), mindfulness (accept/be in the present moment), emotion regulation, (manage and change intense emotions), and interpersonal skills (assertive communication and strengthen relationships).
I have many years experience using CBT with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, burnout/stress, PTSD, anger issues, relationship issues, and more. I enjoy being part of the "aha" moments where individuals notice unhelpful thought and how these thoughts are connected to the feelings and behaviors they experience. I will help you learn new ways of thinking, develop greater confidence in your abilities, and use problem solving skills to cope with difficult situations.
With Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help individuals accept life experiences and circumstances as they occur so that they will be able to build new and compassionate relationships with difficult experiences and circumstances. I incorporate the use of mindfulness to help ground individuals to the present moment and engage in nonjudgment of one's thoughts and feelings. ACT can address depression, anxiety, work stress, and more.
