About My Clients
We all have our stories and narratives to make sense of within our lives. But as you go through life, sometimes, things are not at all what they seem. What you feel inside and how you function in your life don’t always align. Trauma, loss, and feelings of oppression mask our inner compass and we tend to hold conflict and unfinished business in our bodies. These experiences affect our relationships with others, but more importantly, affect our connection with ourselves.
My Background and Approach
Traditional psychotherapy primarily relies on talk therapy and verbal skills. I am not your typical psychotherapist. I’m a NY state licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and a Board Certified Dance-Movement Therapist. I am somatically oriented trained in embodied consciousness. We all have creative minds and moving bodies. To work with me you don’t need to be artistic nor talented in the arts. Just come as you are. Just be you! In my work, I use a variety of art modalities and mind-body exercises to learn about you and support you through your therapeutic process. My therapeutic approach includes meditation, guided imagery, art-making, role-playing, and body awareness. You have complete control of your process, pace, and development. I will help you quiet down the chatter and noise in your head and bring you back to your body– allowing you to nurture your mind, body and soul.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In the comfort of my cozy office I offer you a safe space for self-exploration. It is my hope to accompany you in this process of tuning in to your inner voice, unpacking and unlayering inner conflicts to live a life of consciousness. But what would a typical session look like? An individual session would include both talk therapy and frequent “checking in” to bring your awareness to your body. The body and the mind are interrelated–your body will oftentimes signal to you through breathing, holding tension, physical ailments, and unresolved conflicts. Through body-mind approaches, art-making, writing, and tapping into your creativity, we will turn the spotlight within–liberating you from unhealthy behavioral patterns and identifications to meet your highest self.
