About My Clients
Many of us feel stuck, paralyzed, or just underwhelmed, with no clear idea of why. This can show up in difficulty with sleep, pulling away from loved ones, demotivated at work, and feeling bad about ourselves. Often there are underlying beliefs, thoughts, and feelings that are worth attending to. Therapy is a unique experience that allows for increasing self-awareness and expanding our capacity for more meaningful life experiences, all in a safe space.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee in the state of Washington. I received my Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2019. I have worked with teens and adults in various settings, including community mental health, non-profit agency, and group practice. I have an eclectic therapeutic orientation, pulling from person-centered, cognitive, psychodynamic, attachment, feminist, queer theory, and existential theories. I draw from various evidence-based therapeutic modalities that best fit your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Before pursuing a career in mental health, I worked in Japan for about seven years in education, translation, and HR. During that time, I witnessed chronic overwork, gender inequality, the invisible poor, discrimination against minority groups, social reclusiveness, and lack of accessibility to mental health services. What I observed and experienced personally ultimately gave me the push I needed to go back to school. As a result, my therapeutic approach is very much rooted in multiculturalism, social justice, and trauma-informed care. I identify as queer/femme/nonbinary and welcome clients are looking for therapists who share similar or adjacent lived experiences.
