About My Clients
My clients all have different backgrounds and goals but they found me because they wanted a therapist who would challenge them. Areas of interest and experience for me include, but are not limited to trauma stemming from: abuse, family of origin, relationships with people who have personality disorder, and grief (particularly after suicide loss); addiction, depression, anxiety, and spiritual growth.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University in 2012, and began my work with adolescents in a residential treatment facility, doing group and individual work. When working with me, we will start by discussing relevant history & determining goals based on the challenges you prioritize. For those with trauma, we will start with regulating the nervous system, determining concrete ways to target anxiety & panic (usually with CBT), and explore family of origin patterns, as this informs how we relate to ourselves and others. Over the years, my life has been touched by a multitude of mental health issues with friends and family: addiction, Borderline Personality Disorder, depression, psychosis and homelessness, suicide, and Bipolar Disorder. I personally understand the pain, confusion and ramifications of having to deal with these issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In 2014, I began a personal journey in spiritual growth and came to see the benefits of energy healing as a supporting modality to talk therapy. We can discuss incorporating this if it interests you. I absolutely LOVE being a therapist and enjoy am excited to go to work everyday. Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my husband and two doggos, Nacho and Lola. I love working out and yoga, being in nature, making malas and taking care of our many plants.
