About My Clients

Pulling from decades of experience, I can help with numerous issues, but I'm ideally suited for clients who also have interest in gaining greater understanding of themselves on the whole. Insight has a powerful and significant impact on progress and is at the heart of my work. That being said, lasting change typically requires learning and trying new ways of being. I also offer information, ideas, and encouragement to assist you in feeling, thinking, and living better. *LGBTQIA & cultural ally

My Background and Approach

I have had the great pleasure of working in the field of mental health for nearly 20 years as a therapist, clinical supervisor, speaker, and as the Executive and Clinical Director of an organization that provided comprehensive therapeutic care. This informs my ability to better understand and empathize with my clients as well as offer meaningful interventions. I have specialized experience with relationship dynamics, family therapy, parent coaching and consulting, children and adolescents, life transitions, complex emotional wounding and trauma, substance use disorders, and disordered eating. I believe the more honest we are about what we experience, the more potential there is for insight and ultimately healing. Honesty becomes possible when we feel safe. It is my job (and great honor) to create a space where you can discuss difficult and personal matters while feeling accepted, understood and supported. And, only if it feels right, we can laugh a little bit too.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that each person has the ability to find and return to the part of themselves that is healthy and whole. That process begins as we become increasingly honest with ourselves, which is often one of the hardest things we can do. There are so many reasons to stay distracted and keep our head down. I know that I originally initiated therapy for myself because I had run out of ideas. All my best thinking and efforts were failing me, and it was in that surrender that I connected with someone who offered me a profoundly different perspective. A major shift in my life began with seeing myself differently and accepting help as I began to change. I don't pretend to know more about you than you, but over the years, I have come to learn how to ask really great questions. I've also learned a lot about what has been helpful to others. I believe it is my job to facilitate your work, namely helping you find your way back to your authentic self.
